U11s winning streak comes to an end

Elstead hosted Hambledon in a clash of the top two teams on a sunny evening.Elstead won the toss and elected to bat first,knowing they would face a tough task against Hambledon.This proved to be the case and Elstead lost regular wickets and struggled to score runs against a disciplined attack.Midway through the 15th over,Elstead had slumped to 37 for 9 and looked in danger of not using up all of their 20 overs. However,a good rearguard action by Archie W and Freddie W saw Elstead through to a final score of 48.The highlight of Elstead's batting was a season high score of 15 not out from Archie W,including two cracking boundaries.
Elstead's only hope when it was Hambledon's turn to bat,was to set an aggressive field and try to bowl them out.Whilst Will R struck with 2 wickets in his first two overs,Hambledon never looked in trouble and ran out comfortable winners by 7 wickets,taking just 6.4 oversto score 50 runs.
Whilst this was a disappointing result for Elstead,it came against a Hambledon side which is a deserving winner of our league.The challenge for Elstead will be to pick themselves up for the final game of the season next week against Churt Blues,where a win would secure a much desrved runners up place.
