Boundaries Galore!

With confidence riding high, fresh off the back of their Grayswood win, Elstead batted first on a sunny Sunday morning that threatened showers as the day progressed. Max and Harry opened the innings, intially pinned back, they worked the score up to 29 off 5 overs without loss. Harry fell in the 6th over, clean bowled by Headley's Marcus for 8 runs. This bought Charlie W to the crease who carved out a steady partnership with Max, who eventually retired on 26, having pumelled 5 boundaries. Matt joined Charlie and the onslaught continued, the pair taking the score to 73 for 1 off 10 overs, a big score looking in the offing. Charlie retired on 25, having faced 18 balls and scoring off all but 3 of them. Alfie joined Matt for a cameo performance, as Matt also retired on 25 following a classy stay at the wicket. Alfie knocked 6 before beihg bowled by Carl whilst trying to accelerate the innings towards the end. Alex and Charlie O concluded the innings, Alex scoring 1 and Charlie O a quickfire 6, both finishing unbeaten, having taken the Elstead innings total to 146 for 2 off their alotted overs.

Charlie W opened the Elstead bowling, with immediate success, removing the Headley opener third ball for no runs on the board. Headley had trouble making progress, and in the 4th over with the score on 14 Max clean bowled the other opener Marcus for 2 runs. Next to fall was Headley's Karl for 5 runs, superbly run out by Thomas. Toby and Owen, stabilised the situation and clawed the score up to 37 for 3 after 10 overs, and then in the 14th over with the score on 52, David bowled Toby for 17 runs, Headley's best player on the day. The innings settled down again until in the 17th over with the score on 71, Owen was bowled by Sam for 7 runs. Ethan was then run out off Alfies bowling, and Alex picked up Aidens wicket for 1 run.
