Liphook & Ripsley U13 v Elstead U13, League Match, Sunday 20th May 2012

This Sunday morning fixture was played in a cold wind on a dull day in May. Liphook were put into bat and raced to 25 for 1 off 5 overs.
The breakthrough came when Lewis caught opener James C off Max's bowling for 5 runs. Aiden quickly followed, clean bowled by Harry for 9 with Joe hot on his tail, caught by David off Alex's bowling for 6. Meanwhile James B made steady progress along with Matt, knocking 5 fours and a 4 with a 6 respectively before both retired on 25 runs. Michael and Matt finished the innings, Alex bowling Michael for 4 with the last ball of the innings. Liphook took their total to 104 for 4 off 20 overs.

Lewis and Max came in to bat and stormed their way to 29 off 5 overs without loss. Lewis was just looking comfortable, having hit 2 consecutive 4's when he was caught having scored 14 runs. Max fell 5 runs later, caught off Ollies bowling for 16, with the score on 42 but with Elstead well on the way and on top of the run rate. A mini collapse then ensued, with Liphook's Ollie taking 3 wickets at a cost of just 1 run. First Carlo was run out for a 2 runs, followed next ball by David being bowled for a duck. Alex fell 2 balls later for 2 runs.
Ben showed some resistance, but Harry was also bowled for a duck off the mesmerising bowling of Ollie. Alfie partnered well with Ben as they inched the score towards 70 only for Ben to be caught off Warren's bowling for 11 runs. Alfie was run out for a hard earnt 5, leaving Jack and Rowan to bring up the rear, Jack last man out, last ball caught for 1 with the score grinding to a halt on 78. The middle order collapse had cost them dear, Liphook scoring 20 runs more off the bat than Elstead.
