After a decent bowling performance, where we restricted a strong Old Woking side to just 107 runs, the U11s sadly fell short of the total after losing top order batsmen cheaply on a wicket that made the recent Lords track look easy.
Old Woking got off to a good start and one of their excellent openers scored at over a run a ball to retire on 32 not out, but otherwise we kept the scoring slow and restricetd them to 107 for 5 off 20 overs with Danny, Harry and Charlie bowling particularly tightly, going for less than 3 an over each.
Elstead made a strong start in reply, with excellent running between the wickets meaning we were well on track at around the 8 over mark - unfortunately the loss of batters 3 & 4 cheaply (Harry out to an excellent catch, Danny unlucky to be run out) soon after the openers, put us on the back foot and the run rate slowed dramatically. Massive credit to Jack in particular though who top scored with 13 and battled through 44 balls, but ultimately we ran out of batters and were all out for 63 in the final over. A tough game for the boys, and with one big score in the top order it would have been a different story. Great to see some gritty batting right through to the end though.
