A tough loss for the U11s against a very strong Guildford team, who had borrowed from their Tier One side. On a very fast pitch we bowled and fielded pretty well and their score of 124 didn’t feel unreachable. Stan bowled superbly, showing great control and taking 2-3 off his 3 overs, with Coen and Oli the pick of our other bowlers. Unfortunately we got off to a bad start in reply and lost too many cheap wickets. Some to very good balls and some to poor shots. Danny and Charlie both made good starts with the bat, reaching double figures, and were both unlucky getting out (Danny bowled from a deflection off his pads and Charlie out to a stunning catch from their excellent keeper, who also kept their extras to a minimum) but sadly none of our batters went on to make the big scores we needed and we were all out for only 66.
