Sundays Win!

A devastating spell of bowling from Barry Young and Shaun Fishburn saw Elstead's Sunday team to a big win this week.
A very friendly Crondall side came to Elstead with 12 players, so we reciprocated and played with 12 too. In very un-Sunday style we decided to let the opposition bowl first. Young Sam Warren held the innings together, playing some wonderful shots and eventually retiring on 59. Pete L got to 32 before playing one sweep shot too many and top edging to slip. Ed, Ollie and Shaun all got to double figures, helping Elstead to a good total of 177 for 8 off their 35 overs.
After a delicious tea (particularly nice meringue nests this week!) Crondall went in to bat needing more than 5 an over. Archie bowled well and took a wicket caught at gully. Joe and Ollie bowled some tidy and quick spin, keeping the runs to a minimum. Sam Warren bowled a beauty hitting the top of off stump. Steve Luke pulled off the stop of the season on the boundary. Luke's leg spin was unplayable at times, but it was Baz and Shaun that stole the show, both taking 3 wickets, all clean bowled, with their own particular mixture of slow and even slower bowling that the batsmen just couldn't handle. Crondall were all out for 102. Elstead winning by 75 runs.
