U15s coming up short

Over the last three matches, the U15s have faced some challenging results, falling short in all three games. The league is proving tough this year, with most teams fielding squads made up entirely of Year 10s, whereas our team is a mix of Year 9 and Year 10 players. Despite these hurdles, the team has managed to put up a total of 329 runs, though wickets have been harder to come by, with only 14 taken overall. Staines and Laleham, in particular, proved tough opponents, conceding just one wicket across the match.

On the batting front, Rufus has been in fine form, scoring 41, 6 not out, and 19 not out (off 9 balls). Danny has had a mixed run but delivered a solid 42 against Staines and Laleham. Meanwhile, Ollie, Nathan, and Eddie have provided strong support with notable contributions across the games.

Bowling has yet to find the consistency and accuracy needed to close out matches, but today’s game showed promising signs. Across the three matches, wickets have been fairly evenly distributed, with Rufus, Ollie, Will, Danny, Jamie, and Nathan each taking two, while Caol and Freddie have secured one apiece.

In today’s match against Weybridge, the team’s fielding saw a noticeable improvement, with no dropped catches and three excellent takes. The standout moment came from Jack, who chased down a high ball up the pitch before diving full stretch to complete a remarkable catch. A determined effort all around—things look to be moving in the right direction!
