Beaten After Chasing The Ball

Winning the toss and putting Dogmersfield into bat on a hot Saturday afternoon Joe immediately piled on the pressure as the edges flew. After just two overs the first fell to Joe, caught by Drew in the slips. Within nine overs he had picked up another two, clean bowled, by the 10th he had his fourth with only 29 on the board. Ably supported by Ollie and Charlie with Charlie picking up the fifth. It was then Drew's turn to take the limelight as he scooped four wickets as well for the loss of only 17 runs in 6 overs. CT partnered Drew and, after some miserly bowling giving away only 16 from 7 overs, finally took the last wicket. Dogmersfield had only amassed 78 runs and lasted only 28 overs.
Given we had 60 odd overs in which to achieve this you might think 'a walk in the park' but it proved a difficult wicket to get 'in' on and Elstead made some early slips. Against form Ollie found himself, unusually, early back in the sheds as did Saul. Darryll, who looked very solid before the late tea break, couldn't find his rhythm on resuming and fell with 17 to his name. With only 33 on the board for the loss of three wickets there was a note of tension. However we needn't have worried as Scott and CT carried us over the line in the 29th.
So 23 points and we push into the back end of the season with some tough games against better opposition to come.
