After two recent losses to Chiddingfold (by one run!) and Frensham, Elstead's U13s took on top of the league Brook on Thursday evening. Brook won the toss and put Elstead in to bat, on a dry pitch with a lightening fast outfield. The opening pair of Joe L and Ollie L raced the score along at 10 an over, with Ollie L hitting his first 3 balls for boundaries. Brook's first change bowler then clean bowled Joe, Alex and Sam and with Ollie retiring on 32, the run rate slowed. Luke hit some classy shots to end up unbeaten on 25 and a late wicket saw Olly R come to the crease and hit a quickfire 14.
Elstead's 128 off 20 overs looked a few runs short and would be tricky to defend on such a quick outfield. Elstead were sent out with instructions to bowl straight, pitch it up and stop everything in the field and that is exactly what they did.

Olly R, keeping wicket, got a stumping, took two good catches, plus one that defied belief, standing up to Joe L bowling at 70mph! Jo R (an U11) took a wicket and two great catches. Alfie and Sam also took two wickets each. Alex (normally our wicket keeper) bowled two excellent overs of leg spin. This resulted in Brook being bowled out for 103 in the 19th over.
