Saturday saw a second successive victory for our first team as we inflicted a heavy defeat on a visiting Pirbright team. A majestic innings of 86 from veteran Keith Tilson provided the sound base for the innings as he and Luke Huard (60) and Scott Tilson (58) notched up two century partnerships. The rest just came in and swung for the last few overs. Spectators in the playground and on the “grumpy bench” were just relieved not to be hit by some of Luke’s sixes.
Elstead’s imposing total of 262-7 on a slow wicket was always going to be a big ask and so it proved, as Pirbright were skittled out for 99. Hostile opening spells by Lewis Sheppard (1-34) and Jack Kieswetter (2-26) and a blinding slip catch from Shep, accounted for Pirbright’s top three whilst the evergreen Pat Murphy (3-16) and Dave Tye (3-26) mopped up the rest as the match finished in glorious sunshine.
Well done lads - a far cry from our first match of the season at Brook.
