Elstead Sunday X1 v Woodstreet - Match report kindly written by Will Ryman

"The game was shortened to 30 overs with rain forecast for later in the day. Baz persuaded the opposition captain to bat first so we embarked upon our usual high intensity warm up then went out to field. Will opened the bowling and during a sharp spell he managed to dismiss both openers in the same over; however it came at a cost with their batsmen scoring 40 quick runs. Wickets continued to fall at regular intervals with Pete, Andrew and Chris all seeing off batsmen. One batsman played extremely well and scored 48 to help set up a total of 155 for 9 after their 30 overs.

Will and Pete were sent out knowing it would be a hard run chase. They were also neck and neck leading the Sunday averages so were fighting it out for batting honours. Will failed and hit one straight up in the air and was caught for 7. Pete soon followed him back to the pavilion having been bowled by a double bouncer, one ball he said to leave! This left Baz and James at the crease who had a magnificent 70 run partnership to give Elstead some hope. Baz eventually fell for a season topping/ personal best 55 with James dismissed for 11. A late cameo from Rob of 25 couldn't quite get us over the line and we fell just short on 134 all out. A great game and an unfortunate defeat."

Dan Prichard wins the 100 club.
