What is Clubmark?
Clubmark is the Sport England cross sport quality accreditation for
clubs with junior sections.
National Governing Bodies accredit clubs that comply with minimum
operating standards in four areas:

|
The playing or participation
programme
|

|
Duty of care and child
protection
|

|
Sports equity and ethics
|

|
Club management
|
Nearly half of all children and young people are members of sports
clubs outside school and it is important that these clubs serve young
people well.
The reasons for this include:
• Ensuring the well-being of young people whilst in the care of
adults, other than their legal parent(s)/carer(s).
• Enthusing young people to enjoy sport and active recreation to
build a healthy lifestyle.
• Enabling young people to use their leisure time creatively.
• Developing young people’s talents.
• Identifying and developing the most talented young people for
representative sport.

Where does Elstead stand?
Elstead is pleased to announce that it achieved Clubmark
accreditation in September 2008
Elstead has long advocated and run a safe environment for
children. It introduced its own 'Child Protection ' scheme based
on the principles of the NSPCC before the official ECB policies and
procedures were introduced.
In keeping with other cricket clubs Elstead Cricket Club
has now moved across to the ECB and Sport England Clubmark
system. The reason is to provide parents, members and juniors with
a common recognised standard.
The ECB Policy that Elstead has adopted is called Safe Hands and you
can link to the ECB site here
Elstead has two Welfare Officers
Gordon Wycherley and
Lindsay Allison
